After traveling the United States extensively for two years, Chris finally decided in the spring of 1992 he was going to realize his dream and hike into the wilderness near Denali National Park in Alaska to live off the land. He lived in relative comfort for several months until he succumbed to starvation inside bus 142, on the Stampede Trail.
